by Jennifer Johnson on May.20, 2010, under Civic

Volunteer at a Habitat for Humanity work site with Sioux Falls Synergy! We have two nights for you to choose from, either Wednesday September 1, 2010 or Wednesday, September 15, 2010. The supervised construction activities begin at 5:00 p.m. for both nights and ends around 8:00 p.m. All skill levels are welcome! Some of the activities may include drywall/taping, cabinet installation, roofing, framing, painting, plumbing, and tool inventory.

Habitat for Humanity relies heavily on volunteers, like you to turn the dream of home ownership into reality. This is a great way to participate in volunteer work, be with other young professionals in the community and help a deserving family in need.

There is a maximum of 10 volunteers per evening, so find your painting clothes and get your names in early! Please e-mail Jennifer Johnson at civic@sfsynergy.org. Include your name, contact phone number and date you will be attending.

Join Sioux Falls Synergy!

by Brad Edwards on May.04, 2010, under SF Synergy Updates

Sioux Falls Synergy is venturing into its 5th year of providing young professionals social, civic, and professional development opportunities. And, for a 5th year in a row, the cost of being a Sioux Falls Synergy member is only $25.

As a member of Sioux Falls Synergy you have the benefit of multiple discounts and member-only events such as our upcoming tour of the Avera Cancer Center. Sioux Falls Synergy members are also invited to serve on various committees throughout the year such as Breakfast of Caring.

This past year alone Sioux Falls Synergy hosted 10 Hot Spots, dedicated 140 volunteer hours to community causes, raised $7,000 through our 2nd Annual Breakfast of Caring, launched a new website, and connected young professionals to community leadership through our Mayoral Forum.

Not bad for being volunteer-led!

Your membership makes all of this happen. Membership runs from May 2010 – April 2011. If you sign up between now and the Annual Celebration on May 13 you will be in a drawing for an IPOD!

I’d like to personally thank all of our long-time members and friends who have been with Sioux Falls Synergy since the beginning. Members can look forward to another great year!

Let Sioux Falls Hear Your Voice!

by Cindy Elifrits on Apr.26, 2010, under SF Synergy Updates

Tomorrow, April 27, 2010, you as a young professional have an incredible opportunity to shape the future of Sioux Falls. So often our interests and input is overshadowed by what’s always been done. Tuesday’s mayoral election, on the other hand, is about what can be done.

When I voted two weeks ago, I walked up to my polling site at 7:30am and was only the 14th person who had voted that morning. It surprised me. There was no line. There was no wait. From parking my car to driving out of the parking lot, I had dedicated less than 10 minutes to making sure my opinion counted.

Sioux Falls Synergy encourages you to make sure the young professional voice is heard on Tuesday, April 27. It’s quick, it’s easy, it’s painless . . . and it matters.

Thanks for being a part of Sioux Falls Synergy and for being a part of our community’s future. Let’s have the largest young professional turnout Sioux Falls has even seen.

See you at the polls!
Cindy
